Happy New Year, here's to a healthy, Happy 2026!

Welcome to the New Year! I've got a feeling it is going to be a great one!

We had the pleasure of going away for Christmas this year with our wonderful 'framily', that started as gite guests 8 years ago, we have spent the last 4 Christmas's together and as always we had the best time. A great week to relax and reboot ready to hit the ground running for our 10th season here at Maison Halcyon!

As always we start the year thinking about how we can add some little upgrades to the gite and garden and we are always open to suggestions!

This year we are having a little freshen up of the pool house and adding a more relaxed seating area for our guests to relax in the shade. We are going to have a little play around and see what looks best and we will keep you updated with photos as always!

The yoga / wellness cabin will stay the same, mats are provided with anti bac spray / wipes along with chimes and a portable speaker should you wish to listen to music while destressing!

As always our table tennis table is set in the shade of the woodland, perfect for a break from the sun.

I will attempt to throw some wild seeds again in our 'rewilding' area to encourage the bees and butterflies although I haven't been too successful so if anyone has any tips they would be very welcome.

The gite will of course have a fresh paint where needed as it does every year and that will be done this month or next.

Oh, for those that are following the journey of our carpark cat! If you remember, we found 'Ginger' in a car park in Saintes back in June last year weighing just 454 grams. He has now weighed in at nearly 6 kilos!!!!! He is going to be a big Ginger Tom Cat for sure. He is now still only 8 months old so has a little more growing to do! He is very loving and kind although still nervous of new people and fast movements so I think he will be hiding from guests initially until he gets to know them. He is fabulous and a great addition to Maison Halcyon!
